DEEP VOID

Beyond Our Sky There is More.

A new frontier awaits.

As long as human beings have been looking into the night sky, we have been wondering what is out there. Many cultures have created stories, myths, and songs about space. Space is the area beyond the upper limits of Earth’s atmosphere. It is where all of the asteroids, comets, planets, stars, solar systems and galaxies in our universe are found. Space is a vacuum, meaning it contains almost nothing, but it is not completely empty. Its a deep void filled with mysteries.

Along the way, we have learned a lot about space that has changed previous ideas and gave us entirely new ones. As we continue to explore we will find that space and the universe brings exciting concepts that astound the imagination. There are at least 250 to 500 billion stars in our Milky Way galaxy. With at least 100 billion planets.

There is so much to explore, discover and learn from. Lets start with our local system. Our planetary system is located in the outer spiral arm of the Milky Way galaxy. Our solar system consists of our star, the Sun, and everything bound to it by gravity – the planets Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune. Leaving us so much to expore.

5 Facts About Space

  1. The temperature in the void of space is about −270.45 °C.
  2. The universe is observed to be 13.8 billion years old and has been expanding since its formation in the Big Bang.
  3. In the observable universe there are an estimated 2 trillion (2,000,000,000,000) galaxies.
  4. Spacecraft have visited all the known planets in our solar system.
